From Vietnam to Germany: An International Marketing Master’s Journey That Paid Off

Having gained experience working in the communication and marketing industry in Saigon and later in Tokyo for several years, taking a break from her career to pursue a master’s degree in Germany was a strategic decision for Vy Bui — and choosing the right university made all the difference.

She completed her Master of Arts in International Marketing and Brand Management at Munich Business School (MBS) in 2023. Understanding that choosing a private institution also means working harder to cover the financial aspects of studying, she accepted the challenge, believing it to be a valuable career investment that would pay off in the long run.

Why She Chose MBS

Her decision was driven by the strong accreditation of MBS and its focus on a personalized learning experience.
Small class sizes allowed for open discussions, teamwork, and space to express ideas. Professors had time for individual feedback and knew their students personally — something she believes accelerated both her academic and personal growth. Even in group projects, each student was graded individually and received personal feedback, which further supported professional development and helped shape each student’s professional identity.

From Studies to a Career in Her Chosen Field

The marketing program was highly practical and career-oriented, preparing students early for real business challenges. The MBS program also places a strong emphasis on cultivating an ethical mindset in business students, guiding them to make more responsible, sustainable, and ethical decisions later in their careers.

The result: she secured a job almost immediately after graduating and now works as a Performance Marketing Manager in Munich, Germany. In addition to her full-time role, she has also launched a freelance business in performance marketing. She has even been invited back to the university as a guest lecturer, sharing her practical industry knowledge with the next generation of marketers.
Thanks to strong alumni connections and close ties to industry, she never felt left alone after graduation.

Was the Investment Worth It?

For her, yes — both financially and personally. The experience helped her bridge the professional gap when transitioning from Asia to Europe. Her learning journey at MBS has shaped the professional identity she has today, which has been a key part of her overall personal and professional integration into German society.
